Baby on Board: A Self-Care Guide for Moms

Embarking on pregnancy is a unique experience unlike no other. It can feel simultaneously beautiful, stressful, and joyful over the course of nine months. Taking extra steps to care for yourself during this time is essential to keep your physical and emotional well-being healthy while also providing benefits to your little bundle of joy.

We understand that as a busy mom or mom-to-be, taking care of your physical and mental well-being can be challenging. As the saying goes, you cannot pour from an empty cup! As an ode to Mother’s Day, we’ve put together some self-care tips approved by obstetricians and midwives, ensuring a safe and holistic pregnancy.

A Safe Holistic Approach To Pregnancy

Exercise

Staying active during pregnancy is safe and highly encouraged. Following an exercise regime while pregnant can decrease the risk of gestational diabetes and lead to shorter labor.

There are several low-impact activities expectant mothers can participate in, including Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Barre. Attending a class has a range of benefits. They’re structured to create a peaceful environment where you can practice self-care and bond with your baby.

In addition to helping you improve your physical health by stretching and strengthening pelvic muscles, improving circulation and digestion, and relieving tension and pain, wellness providers can also guide you through your emotional journey by practicing affirmations and encouraging community.

Massage, Esthetics, Skincare

Pregnancy can be tough on the body, which is why you might want to consider pampering yourself with services like massages, facials, or other body treatments.

Many women experience common pregnancy discomforts such as sciatic nerve pain, swelling, and hormone fluctuations. That’s where therapeutic prenatal massage therapy comes in – it has been a go-to remedy for centuries to relieve aches and cramps. Although massage is not advised for women in their first trimester, it is an excellent option for women in their second or third. We use nourishing oils to ease swelling and tension while hydrating your skin.

Facials are also a great option during pregnancy, as your body undergoes drastic changes. Expert estheticians are here to help you navigate any skin changes you might experience. Facials can be a relaxing and beneficial method of self-care as long as they are done correctly. Deep cleansing and hydrating facials will leave your skin feeling refreshed and renewed.

Diet

At our health and wellness oasis, we prioritize eating nutrient-rich foods and maintaining a proper diet. Ensuring your diet includes foods high in protein, iron, folic acid, and calcium promotes the growth and development of your baby, prevents deficiencies, and reduces the risk of premature delivery. Fueling your body with the right foods is also necessary to get ahead of post-birth recovery.

For busy new moms who are short on time but still need nutritious food, our Nourish Cafe at Release is the perfect solution. Our Grab-n-Go bowls and fruit smoothies are quick, packed with vitamins, and delicious ingredients.
