Dig deep inside yourself and find your “why”.
We all want to take care of ourselves better but we keep putting it off. This is when you get into your inner core and think about what your personal reasons are for needing self-care. Family? Longevity? Stress relief? Health issues? To live an active lifestyle? These are some reasons that our members say to us when they enter Release Well-being center.
If you are still trying to find the motivation, the structure or just don’t know where to begin it could be because you are missing the “why” part of the puzzle. Understanding your “why” can help you get started, make the most of every wellness experience and stick with it.
You can’t change for someone else and you can’t change for insignificant reasons. You can only change if your “Why” becomes important and visible to you.
How do you find your “Why”
Get emotional – what is your purpose?
Get honest – Why is this your purpose?
Reflect – what moments in life did you feel the happiest and proudest?
Analyze – why were these moments in your life happy and proud?
Measure – how can you measure your personal ongoing success in your personal self-care journey?
Once you have gotten to the really important purpose(s) for wanting to lead a healthier lifestyle, remind yourself of them often. This will be the first step to your success. Consider writing them down and pinning them somewhere you’ll see them regularly.
When you are tempted to continue habits that no longer serve you or quit something that is working well, this is where you “why” kicks into action. Abraham Lincoln said “Discipline is just choosing between what you want now and what you want most.”
When you really understand your “why” and it’s truly important to you, your underlying motivators will kick in and get you out of bed and out of the door to live your best life and achieve your wildest dreams.
